Job Description: We are seeking an Application Engineer to own the front-end technical development and customer submittal process for custom walk-in diesel generator enclosure projects. This role sits at the intersection of sales, engineering, and project execution. You will translate customer requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes into clear, accurate submittal packages that define scope, configuration, and technical intent—setting projects up for smooth approval and successful downstream execution. Key Responsibilities: Review customer RFQs, specifications, drawings, and project requirements for custom generator enclosure projects Develop complete project submittal packages for customer and engineer-of-record approval, including: General arrangement drawings and layouts Equipment and system descriptions Compliance narratives (codes, standards, and specifications) Preliminary Bills of Material (BOMs) and major component selections Collaborate with sales, project management, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure proposed solutions are accurate, buildable, and aligned with company capabilities Clearly define scope, assumptions, and exclusions to prevent downstream change orders and rework Use AutoCAD and SolidWorks to generate, revise, and maintain submittal drawings Coordinate revisions and responses throughout the customer submittal review and approval cycle Identify technical risks, conflicts, or gaps early and proactively drive resolution Support project handoff from approved submittals into detailed design and production Maintain internal standards for submittal quality, consistency, and document control Requirements Required Qualifications: Experience in an Application Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Project Engineer role supporting custom engineered products Strong ability to interpret customer specifications and translate requirements into clear, technically accurate documentation Working knowledge of generator systems, diesel engine auxiliaries, or power generation equipment (highly desirable) Familiarity with structural, mechanical, and enclosure-based systems; electrical knowledge is a plus Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with customers, consultants, and internal teams Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple submittals simultaneously Experience working in or closely with manufacturing environments preferred Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered Preferred Qualifications: Packaging mechanical or electrical equipment (skids, modules, OEM assemblies) Industrial enclosures, shelters, or containerized systems HVAC, cooling, or ventilation systems integrated into larger equipment packages Pump, compressor, filtration, or fluid-handling systems Structural frames supporting mechanical and electrical components Industrial equipment submittals, layouts, and approval drawings Code-driven designs where compliance and documentation are critical Equal Opportunity Employer/Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled Tomball Controls is an Equal Opportunity and Aff… (continued sentence) #J-18808-Ljbffr Tomball Controls
