Growing together.As a Senior Database Engineer within the Optum Financial Services Tech team, you will be a key contributor to building and optimizing the highly scalable data foundations that power our financial healthcare ecosystem. Our team is dedicated to modernizing financial data exchange and improving health equity by ensuring seamless, secure access to financial tools and benefits for millions of members. In this role, you will tackle complex data architecture challenges and real-time transaction processing using innovative technologies such as cloud-native database platforms, automated CI/CD pipelines, and advanced data security frameworks. You will collaborate with elite engineering teams to drive the future of financial health technology, ensuring our systems are performant, resilient, and ready for the next generation of healthcare innovation.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:All aspects of database administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recoveryProficiency with network troubleshooting tools and techniquesLinux System AdministrationDevelop/implement Linux tooling - Linux utility suite, shell, Python, etc.Change management including maintenance of multiple development, test, QA, and production environments. Responsible for deploying approved changes to production247 rotational on-call support, including driving Root Cause Analysis (RCA), preventative action follow-through, and participation in weekly operations reviewsProactive database monitoring and issue resolutionDatabase and PL/SQL optimization including performance tuning, query optimization and supportability; experience with Oracle 19cActively participate and contribute to projects involving enterprise systems enhancementsParticipate in project design and Oracle database design decisions. Refine and troubleshoot the designCreate and maintain appropriate documentation about the database and the data architectureRegular proactive capacity planning and tending reviews of all oracle databases.
