Technical Lead – Mainframes
Location: Plano, TX / Indianapolis, Boston, Seattle, Portsmouth, NH - onsite 6+ Months
Position Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Technical Lead with 12–15 years of mainframe development experience to lead development teams and ensure technical excellence across our mainframe applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead analysis, design, and development of critical mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, IMS DB, and DB2.
- Manage and mentor a team of mainframe developers, providing direction and fostering skill development.
- Define and enforce architectural standards; participate in and lead design sessions for complex solutions.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices; conduct regular code reviews.
- Design scalable technical solutions to complex business problems.
- Monitor and optimize application performance; implement tuning strategies.
- Coordinate with offshore development teams to align priorities and deliverables.
- Work closely with QA to define testing strategies and support automation initiatives.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and assess feasibility.
- Present technical designs and project status to senior management.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 12–15 years of experience in mainframe development and leadership roles.
- Strong expertise in IBM mainframes and core technologies: COBOL, JCL, IMS DB, and DB2.
- Experience with tools such as Xpediter, Abend-AID, File Manager, ADCP, and GitHub.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience; familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.
- Hands-on development experience required; profiles limited to production-support-only will not be considered.
