Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector supports the operation of a manufacturing line by performing detailed inspections at various stages of production to ensure products meet strict quality standards. This role focuses on visual and mechanical inspection of in-process and finished assemblies, particularly printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), while maintaining high levels of efficiency, accuracy, and safety. The position follows established procedures and uses standardized tools and systems to verify product conformance and document inspection results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and repetitive inspection procedures to verify quality levels at various stages of the production process.
  • Inspect in-process and finished production assemblies and sub-assemblies for conformance to defined quality assurance standards.
  • Read and follow visual aids, engineering change notices, and established operating procedures to determine acceptance or rejection of product.
  • Work under the close supervision of a manufacturing supervisor or other designated supervisor while following standardized inspection practices.
  • Follow written directions and visual aids for assigned quality assurance inspection operations in a consistent and accurate manner.
  • Visually inspect products using magnifying tools, lot sampling methods, first article checks, and automated optical inspection (AOI) machines.
  • Conduct visual inspection of PCBAs and circuit boards to ensure they are defect-free, including checking for metal contamination, weld quality, and other visible defects.
  • Perform raw material incoming inspections to ensure materials meet required specifications before entering production.
  • Carry out 100% inspection where required, without relying on AQL sampling methods, to ensure all products meet quality expectations.
  • Enter standardized inspection results into a computerized manufacturing execution system (MES) using simple keystrokes to record pass or fail status.
  • Support quality control and quality assurance activities including quality checks, final inspection, and documentation of nonconforming conditions when applicable.
  • Assist in the operation of the manufacturing line as needed while maintaining a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and excellence.
  • Handle material, including loading and unloading items and moving products as required to support inspection and production activities.
  • Comply with all safety and health rules and regulations associated with the position, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all procedures within the company's security policy and adhere to site-specific safety and compliance requirements.
  • Stand and remain on feet for most of the shift while performing inspection, assembly-related, or general production tasks.
  • Support continuous quality improvement by identifying defects, following up on issues, and contributing to maintaining zero nonconformance reports (NCRs) whenever possible.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to identify defects in products and materials.
  • Experience performing in-process inspection and final inspection in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to visually inspect PCBAs and circuit boards for defects such as metal contamination, poor welds, and other visible nonconformances.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection, quality control, and quality assurance processes in a light industrial or production setting.
  • Capability to use magnifying tools and visual aids to perform detailed inspection tasks.
  • Ability to follow standardized written instructions, visual aids, and operating procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Comfort working on a production line or in a general labor, assembly, or machine operating environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to work in a mechanically inclined role involving assembly and inspection.
  • Willingness and physical ability to stand on feet for most of the shift and perform tasks such as loading, unloading, and material handling.
  • Ability to enter information into a computerized system; basic computer experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of basic ESD (electrostatic discharge) principles and the importance of ESD protection in electronics manufacturing.
  • Commitment to following all safety rules, PPE requirements, and security procedures.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedules as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, or quality control within electronics, PCBAs, or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in light industry, general production, or assembly work.
  • Experience with mechanical inspection tools such as micrometers and other basic measurement instruments.
  • Familiarity with automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment and first article inspection practices.
  • Experience with loading and unloading trucks, material handling, and packing in a production environment.
  • Exposure to machine operating tasks and assembly production processes.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when required as part of production or inspection duties.
  • Comfort working under close supervision while maintaining consistency and accuracy in inspection tasks.
  • Basic understanding of quality standards, quality improvement concepts, and the importance of avoiding nonconformance reports (NCRs).
  • Willingness to wear a smock and PPE throughout the shift in accordance with site requirements.
  • Openness to learning new skills and processes; a positive, trainable attitude is highly valued.

Why Work Here?

This role offers the opportunity to join a new, clean, and climate-controlled manufacturing site that is ramping several large projects, providing strong potential for long-term stability and career growth. Team members can take advantage of opportunities to convert to longer-term roles and move into other projects as the site expands. The organization emphasizes safety, structured training, and compliance, creating a supportive environment where employees can develop their skills and advance over time. Shift differentials for non-day shifts provide added earning potential, and the on-site setting fosters collaboration and hands-on experience.

Work Environment

The position is fully on-site in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance. Employees work primarily on their feet throughout the shift in a production line and inspection environment that involves general labor, assembly, quality inspection, and material handling tasks. The site operates multiple shifts, including 1st shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) with a shift differential, and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.) with a higher differential, with multiple openings particularly on 2nd shift. Strict attendance and timekeeping protocols apply, and employees must follow site-specific safety standards, including OSHA-compliant training and use of PPE. Composite-toed shoes are required to start work, and a smock is required while on the production floor. The environment supports electronics manufacturing and inspection, including PCBAs, and uses tools such as magnifying devices, AOI machines, and basic measuring instruments within a structured, process-driven setting.
