Job Description
The Warehouse Associate plays a key role in daily warehouse operations by accurately picking orders, loading and unloading trucks, and operating material handling equipment. This position works in a fast-paced distribution environment, supporting receiving, production, and shipping activities for a manufacturing facility. The role requires safe and efficient operation of sit-down and stand-up reach forklifts, careful handling of inventory, and consistent use of scanning equipment to maintain accurate warehouse records.
Responsibilities
- Pick customer and production orders throughout the warehouse with speed and accuracy.
- Load and unload trucks using sit-down and stand-up reach forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Pull pallets from warehouse shelving and racking using a stand-up reach forklift.
- Scan packages, pallets, and inventory to ensure accurate tracking and documentation.
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including staging, labeling, and verifying incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Perform order picking, packing, and general material handling tasks as needed.
- Unload trucks by hand when required, including handling light boxes (such as paint brushes) and stacking them on pallets for removal from the trailer.
- Maintain warehouse inventory organization and support inventory control processes.
- Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while operating forklifts and working in the plant.
- Assist with other general warehouse-related tasks and duties as assigned to support overall operations.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience operating a stand-up reach forklift in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently.
- Experience with order picking and packing in a warehouse setting.
- Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes.
- Ability to use handheld scanners for packages, pallets, and inventory transactions.
- Competence in general material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving pallets.
- Capability to use pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, scanning, and inventory handling.
- Ability to work safely around paint and chemical odors in a manufacturing environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cary, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
