The dialysis nurse collaborates closely with medical practitioners, dieticians, social workers, and vascular access departments to meet with dialysis patient care needs.How you'll contributeDaily routine: Provide HD dialysis to ESRD and AKI patients using Tablo machine, oversee patient during dialysis treatment, monitor lab work and report changes to physician, assist in arranging time for physician to see patient via tele-cart, clean and disinfect machines, and complete daily dialysis audit.PRN Status: Nurse will be used on days primarily when HD nurse is on vacation, sick or in case of an emergency. Most days will be scheduled. The nurse will be aware of what days will be need to be covered in advance. However, sickness and emergencies do arise, and nurse would need to be available in those unscheduled events.Essential FunctionsPerform appropriate patient assessments, evaluation, ongoing monitoring, and nursing interventions in accordance with organizational policies and proceduresAssist in preparing dialysis treatment areas with needed supplies prior to starting treatments and demonstrates knowledge of nursing procedures and nursing care as it relates to renal replacement therapyEnsures dialysis machines and equipment are maintained in good working order per policyProvides patient and family teaching as it pertains to the treatment plan, procedures, and preventative measures throughout the rehabilitation to stay and prior to dischargeYou'll make an impact by utilizing your specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving as a patient-care innovator. Additional requirements include:Graduate of an approved Bachelor or Associate school of nursing and a current state license to practice nursingAt least 2 years of current experience in the specialty is requiredCurrent BLS is required.
