ASCP Certified Medical Assistant - Back Office I, II & III

Position Overview This role involves a blend of clinical and administrative duties to support healthcare providers during patient examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include entering patient data, assisting with vital signs, and documenting medical histories to ensure smooth patient care. Key Responsibilities

- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control standards.
- Record vital signs, medication details, chief complaints, and other relevant patient information.
- Observe and report any significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff or practitioners promptly.
- Enter patient data into electronic health records using ICD-10 and CPT codes for billing and clinical reporting.
- Prepare exam rooms and instruments, assist providers during procedures, and handle specimen collection and processing according to protocols.
- Follow guidelines for sterilization and contamination control of instruments and supplies.
- Prepare and label medications for practitioner verification and administration.
- Coordinate prescription orders with pharmacies as directed.
- Address non-clinical patient inquiries and complaints professionally.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Manage a daily caseload of 20+ patients under assigned physicians.
- Manage a daily caseload of 25+ patients.
- Process referrals, orders, and complete disability forms.
- Serve as a preceptor and trainer for new hires and practice managers on clinical and administrative workflows.
- Identify and implement operational improvements in collaboration with clinic management.
- Manage a caseload of 35+ patients daily.
- Lead billing and coding efforts for medical procedures, working closely with billing staff.
- Proofread physician dictations and ensure accuracy.
- Cross-train in all front and back office functions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions.
- Preferred relevant clinical medical assistant experience; Certified Nurse Assistant experience may be considered.
- Two to five years of relevant clinical medical assistant experience required; CNA experience may be considered.
- Minimum five years of relevant clinical medical assistant experience required.
- At least three years of subspecialty experience in areas such as orthopedics, cardiology, urology, general surgery, primary care, or other surgical specialties.
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting program, Certified Nurse Assistant program, or Military Medical Specialist training required.
- Alternatively, completion of two years of on-the-job training in Medical Assisting or CNA plus a high school diploma or GED.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (healthcare provider) required for all levels.
- CNA or Medical Assistant certification required for Medical Assistant II and III.
