CNC Milling Setup Machinist

Job Description Job Description CNC Milling Setup Machinist Systomatic, Inc. — Union City, CA Systomatic is a precision manufacturing company serving the aerospace, defense, semiconductor, medical, and advanced-technology industries. We produce complex, tight-tolerance components in aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, plastics, and other engineered materials. We are looking for an experienced CNC Milling Setup Machinist who can independently set up, prove out, inspect, and run high-quality production work. This position is ideal for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates clearly, and is comfortable in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC vertical mills and machining centers Install and indicate vises, fixtures, pallets, workholding, and tooling Load programs, set work offsets and tool offsets, and safely prove out new jobs Perform 3-axis and 3+2-axis setups Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing instructions Work with programmers and management to improve machining processes Make offset and tooling adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy Perform first-piece and in-process inspections Use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other inspection equipment Troubleshoot tooling, finish, chatter, dimensional, and process-related issues Maintain accurate production and inspection records Keep machines, tooling, and work areas clean and organized Follow all company quality and safety procedures Required Qualifications At least 5 years of CNC milling setup and machining experience Ability to independently perform complete machine setups Strong knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, workholding, and fixture alignment Working knowledge of CNC G-code and M-code Ability to read complex blueprints and manufacturing drawings Knowledge of GD&T and experience holding close tolerances Ability to perform accurate first-piece and in-process inspections Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Quality-focused, dependable, and able to work with limited supervision Comfortable working in a high-mix, low-to-medium-volume environment Preferred Qualifications Experience with Haas CNC mills Experience with 4-axis, 5-axis, or 3+2-axis machining Experience with Haas UMC-series machines Experience machining aerospace or defense components Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality-management systems CAM programming or program-editing experience Experience with probing, multiple work offsets, pallets, and complex fixtures Ability to assist with process development and continuous improvement Schedule Full-time, in person Schedule and overtime opportunities will be discussed during the interview.
