Reports To: Upper School Principal

Position Overview

The High School Teacher provides instruction for grades 9–12, creating a rigorous and engaging learning environment that integrates academic excellence with a biblical worldview. This role emphasizes subject mastery, college and career readiness, critical thinking, and spiritual development while preparing students for post-secondary success and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery

• Design and implement engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with state and school curriculum.
• Integrate biblical principles and a Christian worldview into all areas of instruction.
• Promote higher-order thinking, research skills, and real-world application of knowledge.
• Prepare students for college, career, and vocational pathways through rigorous instruction.
• Utilize varied instructional strategies and technology to promote student engagement and achievement.

Student Support & Assessment

• Assess student learning through formal and informal evaluations.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Maintain timely and accurate grading records.
• Communicate regularly with parents and students regarding academic progress, behavior, and development.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to support post-secondary planning.

Classroom Management

• Create a positive, structured, and respectful classroom culture.
• Establish clear expectations and consistent routines.
• Implement classroom management practices consistent with school policy.

Professional Responsibilities

• Participate in PLC meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Support student spiritual formation through mentoring, discipleship, and chapel participation.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate attendance and grading records.
• Submit required reports, lesson plans, and documentation on time.
• Supervise students during assigned duties (lunch, carline, chapel, events, etc.).

Other Duties

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Upper School Principal or Headmaster.

Requirements

Education & Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (required).
• Valid state teaching certification (preferred).

Experience

• Previous high school teaching experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development and college/career readiness standards.
• Experience in a Christian school setting is a plus.

• Ability to deliver rigorous, subject-specific instruction.
• Effective differentiation strategies for diverse learners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
• Ability to mentor and guide students academically and spiritually.

Other Requirements

• Must pass background screening and meet all school safety requirements.
• Ability to perform duties consistent with the physical and professional expectations of a high school teacher.
