Position: Senior Mobile Diesel Technician The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician performs DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic diagnostics, and serves as the lead technician on job sites. The role requires strong diagnostic skills, customer interaction and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Duties Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Carry out minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more. Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges; road‑test vehicles to verify functionality. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives using sound judgment. Manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck, perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Work closely with clients to assess needs, provide solutions and resolve issues. Prioritize concurrent tasks, manage time effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using iOS device and TRAIT application, including photos and parts used. Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly and accurately. Work independently and manage daily schedule. Maintain productivity and meet standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase orders, and RO findings. Perform work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company safety, health, and environmental policies. Requirements High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; alternatively a higher degree or 5 years of experience may qualify. At least 3 years working with refrigerated equipment. Must possess the set of hand tools required for the duties. OEM training and certifications preferred. A current and valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining, or completion of a DOT physical, is required. Must be 21 years or older and hold a valid driver’s license; must maintain a Driver Qualification File. Training and Certifications Mandatory: Participation in all company required training sessions. Required within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI), ASE 608/609. Preferred: ASE T2 (Diesel Engines), ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE A8 (Engine Performance), ASE L1 (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist), ASE L2 (Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist). Skills & Abilities Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Physical stamina to lift, bend, climb, and perform repetitive tasks for long periods. Effective two‑way communication with individuals and groups. Ability to determine tool and equipment needs. Accurate judgment of distances and spatial relationships. Logical reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions.
