Senior Distribution Planning and Analysis Engineer

Senior Distribution Planning and Analysis Engineer Leidos Engineering is seeking a (REMOTE) Senior Distribution Planning and Analysis Engineer to join our distribution planning team. This role will involve the execution of distribution planning, distributed energy resource (DER) interconnection impact, Arc flash and coordination studies, distribution protection, and self‑healing systems as project and client needs dictate. Studies are conducted for Municipal Utilities, Investor‑Owned Utilities, and electric system cooperatives. The position will involve some degree of client‑facing work, with business development activities to be expected. The growth potential of this position is significant for a well‑qualified candidate. Familiarity and experience with distribution policy and regulatory issues, including Arc flash assessments, is also considered a plus. Background Requirements: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree required and 5+ years of experience in wide‑area power system modelling, analysis, and planning, including system impact, power flow, short‑circuit studies for interconnections on the distribution system. Experience functioning in a technical role in distribution studies and capable of conducting studies under the direction of a technical supervisor is strongly desired. Proficiency with power system modelling and analysis tools including CYME’s CYMDist, Milsoft’s WindMil, and/or DNV GL’s Synergi required. Siemens PTI’s PSS/E or GE Concordia’s PSLF, EMTP, or PSCAD experience is a plus. ASPEN OneLiner or Siemens APA formerly CAPE software experience is a plus. Experience with Python scripting is a plus. Must possess strong communication skills, including listening, writing, and presentation skills. Must be a team player, able to work collaboratively with many different people with diverse backgrounds and geographic locations. Active P.E. license is preferred but not required.
