Travel RN – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 26 Weeks | Rotating weekends expected (approximately 4 weekend shifts per month)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct bedside nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in a 16-bed PICU setting with patient ratios staffed by acuity (1–2:1 PICU, 3:1 IMC, 4:1)
• Manage advanced respiratory interventions including pediatric mechanical ventilation, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal CPAP, and tracheostomy care
• Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, and titrate vasoactive, paralytic, sedative, and other complex continuous infusions
• Assist with intubation, hemodynamic monitoring, and moderate sedation for specialized pediatric procedures
• Apply weight-based pharmacology (Broselow/PALS dosing) and perform age-specific assessments across neonates through young adults
• Float to ICU and NICU as needed per unit guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Idaho
• Minimum of 1+ year of recent, direct bedside experience with pediatric critical care patients
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Demonstrated experience with pediatric mechanical ventilation, HFNC, nasal CPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Proficiency in managing arterial lines, central lines, and titrating critical care infusions
• Competency in weight-based pharmacology and age-specific assessments from neonates through adolescents and young adults

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience precepting novice or new graduate nurses
• 2 or more years of PICU experience
• Collaborative, team-oriented personality with a passion for pediatric care
