Library Services Supervisor

Job Summary Washington County is looking for a Library Services Supervisor to guide staff in meeting the needs of a diverse and growing community. The ideal candidate is a strong and supportive leader, a technology champion, and an experienced library professional who understands the significance of circulation services in a public library setting. Daily responsibilities include supervising library services staff, providing library customer service, contributing to efficient day-to-day library operations, and performing financial transactions. As a library leader, you will work with a team of managers and supervisors to support our mission to inspire curiosity, champion innovation, and spark curiosity. Responsibilities Supervise library services staff at libraries, including interview and recommendations for new staff, orientation and training, policy interpretation, scheduling, and workload management. Provide library customer service, explain policies, respond to service requests, assist with self-check, computer, printer, and copier services, and direct patrons to researchers when needed. Contribute to efficient day-to-day library operations, including updating customer records, processing registrations, managing delivery logistics, and preparing service-demand reports. Collaborate with management to develop or revise policies and procedures, review service providers, and address concerns; assist in budget preparation and evaluating new technologies. Perform financial transactions such as assessing fines, collecting fees, revenue receipting, and related tasks while ensuring accuracy and compliance. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of office, technical, library, or customer service experience. A bachelor’s degree may substitute for up to two years of required experience. Experience in a customer-centric environment providing customer support, solving problems for customers, and helping people find information. Demonstrated ability to drive results in a customer service setting while supporting employee engagement. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion for staff and community. Experience using an integrated library system such as SirsiDynix (preferred). Work Environment Work performed is semi-sedentary and typically within a library. Physical requirements may include lifting up to 25 pounds on occasion. Routine duties involve use of computers, cash registers, printers, copiers, scanners, and related equipment. Work may involve interruptions and handling tense or emotionally charged interactions; occasional travel to meetings or training sessions may be required.
