You'll take ownership of significant areas of the monthly close and help ensure the integrity of our general ledger, primarily in NetSuite. Through accurate reconciliations, thoughtful variance analysis, and day-to-day cash management, you'll bring clarity to the numbers, improve how we work, and help our fast-growing business deliver for the people and merchants who rely on us.What You'll DoFinancial Reporting & Close ProcessOwn assigned areas of the month-end close, including the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the underlying financial recordsPerform journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesPrepare internal and external financial statements and supporting schedulesAnalyze monthly variance and flux analysis for assigned P&L and balance sheet accounts, including written explanations of the underlying driversEnsure proper application of U.S. GAAP across all assigned accounting treatmentsReconciliations & General LedgerOwn balance sheet and income statement account reconciliationsInvestigate and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies in a timely mannerPerform subledger-to-general-ledger tie-outs and resolve differences at the sourceTreasury & Cash ManagementSupport daily cash positioning and monthly bank reconciliations across all operating accountsContribute to cash forecasting and monitor liquidity against operating needsPerform cash flow analysis and communicate findings to managementCoordinate directly with banking partners on account activity, exceptions, and setupProcess Improvement & SystemsIdentify and implement improvements to accounting processes, controls, and close-cycle efficiencyContribute to accounting system enhancements, implementations, and automation projectsDevelop and maintain documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and close checklistsCross-Functional CollaborationBuild and maintain strong working relationships with Operations, Legal, Product, and FP&APartner with management to provide insights that support business decision-makingCommunicate accounting impacts clearly to non-accounting stakeholdersSupport interdepartmental initiatives and process improvementsAudit & ComplianceServe as a key point of contact for external auditors during financial statement auditsPrepare audit schedules and respond to audit inquiriesCorrespond with multiple U.S. states regarding sales tax compliance, filings, audits, and inquiriesAdditional ResponsibilitiesSupport ad hoc projects and analyses as assignedStay current on accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practicesAbout YouBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance3–5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a corporate or in-house accounting roleDemonstrated ownership of month-end close areas, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and close-cycle deadlinesHands-on general ledger experience in an ERP environment (NetSuite strongly preferred)Experience preparing account reconciliations and financial statements, and explaining variances to managementStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAPAdvanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets)Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities against a fixed close calendarAttention to detail in a high level of accuracyAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamStrong written and verbal communication skillsAdaptability and comfort working in a dynamic, high-growth environmentPreferredCPA license (active or in progress)Experience supporting or performing financial statement auditsFamiliarity with financial services, consumer finance, leasing, or lease-to-own industriesSales tax compliance experience across multiple statesExperience with close management or reconciliation softwareLocation: This position requires regular in-person attendance at our office location (Richmond,VA) or (Arlington,VA).
