Principal Mechanical Engineer

Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.

* Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc.

* May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products.

* Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 8+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.

* Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

* Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

* Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others.

* A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

* The Legacy Engines and APU Structures Group within the Component Design & Analysis (CDA) directorate is responsible for the design, development and analysis of static gas turbine engine components.

* The successful applicant will be responsible for performing and leading subordinate efforts on stress, vibration, and heat transfer analyses.

Responsibilities

* providing technical expertise on a variety of engine and power systems programs.

* You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements.

* Other responsibilities include communicating with Project engineering teams, resource and manpower planning, conduction of design reviews, presentations to internal and external customers, ensuring proper documentation of work performed and engaging and leading department process improvement initiatives

Pay: $78.00 - $79.00 per hour
