Sales Engineer – Warehouse Automation

John Charles Search is partnering with an international automation business to appoint a Sales Engineer for its growing US warehouse-automation division. This is a high-impact business-development role for someone who combines technical credibility with the ability to win and grow complex industrial accounts.

The opportunity

You will develop new business across the US while managing and expanding relationships with existing customers. Working closely with sales, engineering, project-delivery and after-sales teams, you will position tailored automated-material-handling solutions from initial prospecting through to contract award.

Key responsibilities

• Build and execute a US business-development plan for warehouse-automation solutions.
• Identify, qualify and develop new prospects, partners and lead-generation channels.
• Reactivate historic opportunities and develop the existing installed customer base.
• Sell complex automation systems into industrial and logistics environments.
• Lead customer meetings, site visits, solution discussions, proposals, tenders and contract negotiations.
• Develop key accounts and maintain senior commercial relationships.
• Monitor competitors, market developments and new customer applications.
• Represent the business at relevant trade shows, industry events and customer meetings.
• Coordinate closely with engineering, project management and after-sales teams to ensure a strong customer handover and delivery experience.
• Travel periodically to European headquarters and project teams.

Candidate profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• Four or more years of US business-development and technical-sales experience.
• Proven experience selling complex capital equipment, automation systems or technical solutions.
• Strong background with industrial, logistics, manufacturing or business-to-business customers.
• Warehouse automation, intralogistics, parcel, airport, food or pharmaceutical-sector experience is highly relevant.
• Commercially driven, self-starting and comfortable working independently in a remote role.
• Able to understand complex technical systems and translate them into clear customer value.
• Strong negotiation, key-account management and stakeholder-management skills.
