LPN School Nurse

Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) provides nursing care within the school setting, supporting student health and wellness. This role involves carrying out nursing procedures, gathering and reporting health data, and collaborating with school staff to ensure appropriate care is delivered. The LVN/LPN must hold a current WA LVN/LPN license and be able to work full-time during the school year. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care and therapeutic procedures as directed by supervising healthcare professionals.
• Gather, document, and report student health data and observations.
• Assist with management of student health needs and emergencies.
• Collaborate with school staff and healthcare providers to support student well-being.
• Maintain accurate health records and ensure compliance with school and healthcare policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned within the school environment.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Washington State LVN/LPN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required depending on school policy.
• Ability to perform nursing assessments and implement nursing care plans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with pediatric or school-aged populations preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing.
• Familiarity with common chronic conditions affecting children (e.g., asthma, diabetes).
• Additional certifications related to school health or pediatric care.

Special Considerations:

• Work is performed in an educational environment with children of elementary school age.
• Must comply with school district policies and confidentiality requirements.
• May require flexibility in responding to student health emergencies during school hours.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position during the school year (26-27 school year).
• Monday through Friday, approximately 35 hours per week.
• Schedule aligns with the school calendar and hours of operation.
