Assistant Director of Accounting

DescriptionKforce has a client that is seeking a Manager of Special Revenue and Capital Accounting in Golden, CO.Summary:We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a General Accounting team. This individual will oversee the general ledger, financial reporting, internal controls, month-end and year-end close activities, and a team of accounting professionals. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a strong technical accounting background, experience managing complex financial systems, and a passion for process improvement.Key Responsibilities:* Lead the daily operations of the General Accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting* Manage and maintain the general ledger, including reviewing journal entries, account analyses, and financial transactions* Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes* Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies* Maintain and strengthen internal controls while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies* Supervise the billing, accounts receivable, and financial administration functions for assigned business operations* Review and approve bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and resolve outstanding reconciling items* Monitor fixed asset accounting, including capitalization and depreciation of assets* Serve as the primary administrator for the organization's ERP financial system, partnering with IT on system enhancements, upgrades, testing, and troubleshooting* Coordinate annual external audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests* Prepare and review required financial reports and regulatory filingsRequirements* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field* Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience* Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles* Experience with large-scale ERP financial systems (PeopleSoft experience is a plus)* City/State/County Government experience required* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office* Experience managing general ledger activities, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support* Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes and implement operational efficiencies* Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills* Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detailPreferred Experience:* CPA certification preferred* Experience working in complex or highly regulated organizations* Knowledge of internal controls, financial compliance, and audit best practices* Experience leading accounting teams through system implementations, upgrades, or process improvementsJob TypeDirect HireCompensation100000 - $120000
