Cytotechnologist I

Department/Unit: Cytopathology Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $60,367.47 - $90,551.20 Position Overview: A Cytotechnician I & II receives and processes cytological specimens for testing to aid in disease detection, diagnosis, and monitoring of illnesses or treatments initiated by a physician. The Cytotechnician performs laboratory procedures and supports the laboratory under the supervision of a qualified NYSED licensed supervisor and the general supervision of the director. The position requires exercising sound judgment and responsibility in preparatory techniques qualified by education, training, and experience. Additional Compensation: Salary Range: Min. $26.37/hr - Max $42.19/hr Responsibilities: Perform testing and report results on laboratory specimens. Document test results and quality control accurately and legibly. Use applicable computer systems effectively. Communicate well, follow directions, and engage interactively with others. Meet diagnostic performance guidelines established by the medical director. Prepare cytologic specimens for analysis to aid in diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Perform maintenance and quality control procedures. Enter specimen information accurately and verify patient demographics. Train new staff, cytotechnicians, students, and pathology residents.
