Postdoctoral Fellow

Case Western Reserve University, Department of Physiology and Biophysics is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a postdoctoral fellow position. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewing for additional years. The successful candidate will work in the laboratory of Professor Witold Surewicz on a research project exploring the role of liquid‑liquid phase separation in neurodegenerative diseases. Some of our recent papers in this area include: Boyko et al., PNAS 117, 31882-31890 (2020), Babinchak et al., Nature Commun 11: 5574 (2020), Boyko and Surewicz, Trends Cell Biol 32, 611-623 (2022), Haider et al., Biophys J 123, 361-373 (2024), Monnaka et al., Commun Chem 9:126 (2026). Responsibilities and Duties Design and perform experiments related to the research project Interpret experimental data Participate in preparation of manuscripts for publication Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biophysics or related areas. 0-2 years of postdoctoral experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary. Prior experience in liquid‑liquid phase separation, protein aggregation and/or protein‑protein interactions is highly desirable. In compliance with the City of Cleveland’s Pay Transparency Ordinance (effective October 27, 2025), the annual starting base salary for this position is $55,000 to $63,480.
