Sr. Staff Accountant

Senior Staff AccountantWe are partnering with an established, growing commercial and industrial services company to hire a Senior Staff Accountant. Working directly with the Controller, this person will take ownership of key accounting responsibilities, support accurate monthly reporting, and become a trusted resource across the accounting team.We're looking for someone who can independently work through reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and keep daily accounting activities moving. This is an opportunity to bring your experience to a collaborative team, improve processes, and grow into additional responsibility as the business expands.What You'll Do:Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules, taking responsibility for assigned month-end close activities.Serve as a go-to resource for questions involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash applications, and collections.Support project accounting, billing, and accurate tracking of project costs.Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls, and help implement improvements.Prepare accurate, organized schedules and documentation for audits and financial reporting.Support the Controller with analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting projects.Work with colleagues across the business to resolve issues and ensure financial information is complete and timely.What We're Looking For:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Relevant accounting experience demonstrating independent ownership of reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end responsibilities.Broad exposure across accounting functions and a strong understanding of how daily transactions affect the general ledger and financial statements.Strong Excel skills and the ability to learn accounting systems.Ability to investigate issues, exercise sound judgment, and follow through with limited direction.Clear communication skills and an approachable, dependable work style.Comfort balancing focused accounting work with questions and competing priorities in an active office.Public accounting, audit, and internal controls experience would be valuable. Construction or service industry accounting experience is helpful but not required.
