Data Center Technician

Description The Communications Technician II will install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and wall, terminating CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. The technician will mount face plates and surface‑mount boxes, build closets by installing backboards, cross‑connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic, and hardware. Grounding for racks, equipment, and cable will be installed as required. The role includes completing IDC connections, such as terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels, and performing testing: continuity tests for horizontal and riser cable, using volt‑ohmmeter and tone set, troubleshooting opens, crosses, shorts, and transposing pairs on horizontal and riser cable. The technician will identify active voice‑or‑data circuits, assume responsibility for effective crew performance, provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete the project, and fully complete all paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others). Physical and Mental Requirements Physical and mental requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, kneel, or sit for long periods, and work in a data‑center environment with minimal visual and auditory distractions.
