Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides mental health care services to adult, children and adolescents consistent with acquired education, and in keeping with the Mississippi Nurse Practice Act. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner must also demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.Job Responsibilities:Demonstrate knowledge, expertise and confidence to seek assistance from the physician in decisions, when necessaryDemonstrate knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders; cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioralDemonstrate an awareness of patient wait timesMaintain accurate clinical records in a timely mannerMaintain patient confidentialityMaintain patient privacy during examsAdheres to the organizations productivity standardsFacilitate patient flow through the centerPrioritizes delivery of care according to the individual needs of the patientRecognizes and accommodates patient’s financial situation when ordering test or proceduresDemonstrate an attitude with regard to patients as one of respect, honesty, caring and professionalism at all timesProvide appropriate follow-up according to a patient’s conditionRecognize cultural differences in the delivery of patient careDemonstrate an ability to work as a member of the health care teamInteract with appropriate personnel from the hospitals and other agencies in a professional mannerProvide accurate and appropriate information to others when requestedParticipate in quality assurance processAdhere to the proper enforcement of CLIA and OSHA requirementsRotate to provide service at other clinics as neededMaintain licensure and certification as required by the job descriptionAttend continuing education and in-service training meetingsDemonstrate professionalism at all times when representing the organizationCooperatively with administration to facilitate practice regulations and policiesCommunicate with the clinic staff appropriatelyMaintain prompt and regular attendanceVerify timecard at the end of each pay periodPerforms related work, as assignedAdhere to the internet, electronic mail and computer policiesMust be flexible and willing to float to other clinic locations as needed to support operational needs, ensure adequate coverage, and maintain quality patient careCompletes the required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadlineJob Requirements:Registered Nurse who is currently licensed to practice in the State of MississippiGraduate of an accredited psychiatric nurse practitioner program and licensed by the State of Mississippi with an approved protocolCertified by the ANCC or AANP as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse by the Mississippi Board of NursingCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart AssociationProvider skills are maintained by attending continuing education meetings as required by the Mississippi Board of NursingTwo plus years of experience is preferredMaintain accurate clinical records, both written and electronic, in a timely mannerProvide primary health care services in accordance with accepted standards of care and approved protocolsExercise best clinical judgment in the provision of careConsult with appropriate provider in those areas of medical practice which requires special judgment, consultation or individual discretionReport any events or circumstances which hinders delivery of quality health careParticipates in community service activitiesPhysical and Other Requirements:Capable of performing a complete history and physicalMust occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs #J-18808-Ljbffr
