About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Must have state license in hand Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic charting experience - Patient ratio experience Description: Float within service line and scope of practice as needed. Average daily census is 76 patients. Patient age groups include neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Staffing ratios are 1:4-5 on all shifts. Elderly patients may present with various chief complaints such as chest pain, shortness of breath, mental health evaluations, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, abdominal pain, sprains, strains, fractures, trauma, and cardiac arrest. Facilities include a 27-bed emergency department. This site is designated as a primary stroke center and is seeking trauma designation. There are 24/7 board-certified emergency department providers and nursing staff. Two designated resuscitation rooms are available for emergencies. Four dedicated mental health preferred rooms are set aside for patients needing mental health evaluations. Post procedures may include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line management, phlebotomy, starting IVs, and procedural sedation administration. Skills required include care of ventilated patients, management of gunshot wounds and spinal cord injuries, and triage. Isolation precautions must be followed as per protocol. Every other weekend commitment is required. Floating to other units and facilities may be necessary based on patient needs.
