Supplier Development Engineer

Payrate: $49.00 - $50.00/hr.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the quality of supplies by conducting tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify any quality issues; develop supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
• Generate reports on supplier quality by monitoring their defect rates and identifying areas that can lead to potential flaws; guide suppliers to reduce these defect rates.
• Research potential vendors, assess their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures; conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards.
• Support suppliers in improving their performance through process enhancements, implementing process controls, and developing quality assurance plans.
• Improve supplier performance by identifying capability gaps and implementing corrective actions to ensure quality, cost, and delivery standards are met.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience required; Masters degree holders can be considered with 3 years of experience.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other technical fields.
• No internships accepted as job experience.

Skills

• Experience with both light and heavy fabrications and familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process, New Source Introduction, New Part Introduction, and New Technology Introduction (APQP, PPAP, NSI, NPI, NTI).
• Exposure to manufacturing environments involving complex engineered components.
• Ability to navigate supplier relationships and quality systems with confidence and a heavy emphasis on people skills.
• Effective communication skills, including delivering constructive feedback and interpreting non-verbal cues.
• Problem-solving abilities to recognize, anticipate, and resolve operational or process issues using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Focus on process improvement by evaluating product quality and production methods to drive continuous improvement.
• Commitment to quality management practices that support organizational goals.
• Expertise in PPAP elements and submissions to ensure supplier compliance with quality standards.
• Knowledge of manufacturing standards and ability to ensure process compliance.
• Skills in evaluating and certifying suppliers using defined methods and criteria.
• Willingness to perform tactical work, including day-to-day processes, projects, and presentations.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $49.00 - $50.00 /hour . Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
