Department Overview Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Number of Beds: 33 beds Average Daily Census: 16 patients Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adult patients Common Diagnoses: Trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, adult sepsis, post-stent care, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress Responsibilities Administer medications and monitor patients’ vital signs, ensuring responsiveness to treatment. Titrate IV drips as necessary, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications. Provide direct patient care including the application of advanced respiratory techniques using equipment such as ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Interpret and document telemetry readings for patients under care. Assist with procedures and protocols relevant to patient care in the ICU setting. Schedule and Orientation Shifts: 12-hour shifts (Days and Nights available) Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays within the contract period Orientation: 1 shift of department-specific orientation Qualifications Current RN license to practice in [State] Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Experience in an ICU setting preferred Strong assessment and critical thinking skills Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations Additional Information Nurse Aides are available based on census to assist RNs with patient care. RN responsibilities include troubleshooting respiratory equipment as needed. Floating may be required to PCU or MedSurg units, maintaining appropriate patient ratios.
