Collections Officer

Role Description The Collections Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Beaumont, TX. This role is responsible for monitoring delinquent accounts, contacting members by phone, email, and written correspondence to arrange payment plans, and negotiating repayment solutions that align with credit union policies. The Collections Officer will document all member interactions, update account records, and-escalate complex cases as needed while adhering to regulatory and compliance requirements. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with member service and lending teams, reviewing account histories, preparing reports on past-due accounts, and maintaining a professional, empathetic approach to member communication. The role supports the credit union's goal of preserving strong member relationships while safeguarding financial stability. Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in debt collection and account recovery processes, including negotiating payment arrangements and handling delinquent accounts. Strong analytical skills to review account histories, interpret financial data, and make informed recommendations on collection strategies. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact respectfully and empathetically with members in challenging situations. Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, for member outreach and internal reporting. Basic understanding of finance and lending practices, preferably within a credit union or banking environment. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines. Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations governing collections and consumer lending is beneficial. Proficiency with office software and account management systems; prior experience in financial services or collections is preferred.
