The Radiology Technical Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, smooth, and efficient delivery of diagnostic imaging services to patients of all ages. Collaborating closely with the radiology team, this position supports a clean and safe environment while assisting with patient transport, clerical tasks, and supply management.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize TEAM principles (Teamwork, Empathy, Accountability, Messaging) to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Identify opportunities to enhance patient experience and participate in service improvement initiatives.
• Perform patient identification using two identifiers and verify with wristbands.
• Provide basic education to patients about examinations and refer questions appropriately to reduce anxiety.
• Assist with patient transfers and positioning following no-lift protocols.
• Prepare procedure rooms between cases and maintain cleanliness in department traffic areas.
• Perform clerical duties including document collection and data generation for procedures.
• Support electronic image management, including importing and sharing images.
• Assist with communication between providers and on-call radiologists, including escalation of exam dictations.
• Restock procedure rooms and supply carts, manage waste disposal, and inventory emergency supplies.
• Report defective equipment and maintain ongoing competencies related to role functions.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• No prior work experience necessary; on-the-job training provided.

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent guest relations and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to read and understand English.
• Receptive to supervision within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexible approach to work tasks and scheduling.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work variable shifts involving standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient observation.
• Exposure to blood and body fluids with appropriate safety precautions.
