Heavy Equipment Mechanic Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and mechanical components
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, annual services, and equipment readiness checks
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals
- Repair and service telehandlers, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, skid steers, mini excavators, generators, trailers, and related equipment
- Conduct safety inspections and identify equipment deficiencies prior to rental or delivery
- Replace and repair hydraulic hoses, cylinders, pumps, valves, and related components
- Perform welding, fabrication, and component replacement as needed
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance
- Assist with field service calls when necessary
- Coordinate with parts suppliers and management regarding repair needs and inventory requirements
- Maintain accurate service records using computer-based maintenance systems
- Assist in equipment setup, customer support, and technical guidance when needed
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirements:
- Heavy equipment mechanic experience preferred
- Diesel mechanic experience required
- Experience working on telehandlers, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, skid steers, and other construction equipment strongly preferred
- Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems required
- Manufacturer certifications and equipment-specific training are a plus
- Strong computer skills are required to complete work orders, diagnostics, inspections, and repair documentation
- Must possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative team member
- Safety-first attitude and commitment to quality workmanship required
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and climb throughout the workday
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding equipment safely
- Ability to safely service equipment weighing up to and exceeding 21,000 pounds
