Cardiac Surgical Technologist

The Adult Cardiac OR cares for a wide variety of patients. Procedures include CABG, TAVI, and various heart failure interventions. Surgical Technologists provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures. They assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations. Responsibilities include proper care and handling of instruments. They facilitate room turnover between cases. The role involves maintaining sterile technique and safe handling of sharps. Surgical counts must be performed as per hospital policy. Technologists demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse. Two years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room is required.
