Social Worker - Eating Disorders Program (Intensive) - Outpatient
Mount Sinai Health System
Job Description Job Title: Social Worker - Eating Disorders Program (Intensive) - Outpatient Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital
The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. It offers comprehensive social work services and programming to meet the myriad needs of the diverse populations we serve. We believe that total patient care must emphasize the physical, emotional, and social needs of each patient and their care partners. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities. The Mount Sinai Center of Excellence in Eating and Weight Disorders is a comprehensive research-clinical-education program servicing the broader community to offer specialist care, develop novel treatment, and provide education and training. The program aims to cater to those individuals and families who do not meet requirements for an inpatient or partial admission, but who would benefit from an outpatient therapeutic support. The program is intended to be a brief and intensive intervention, where patients and their families can gain the tools needed to attain and stabilize a healthy weight, normalize disordered eating patterns and return to a more functional and healthy mode of living. The program utilizes mixture of in-person and virtual interventions for the community. Responsibilities The social worker in this role will support the existing multidisciplinary team in co-leading groups for adolescents and parents and providing psychotherapy for patients through the Center. The social worker will contribute to the larger mission of the Center of Excellence in eating disorders aimed at integrating research into all levels of clinical practice. The social worker is expected to participate in administrative and clinical duties that these acutely ill patients require. HOURS/SCHEDULE:
