Salary Salary Range: $3,950 - $5,453 per month (non-PERS) Base salary offer within the listed range; an equal‑pay assessment will determine the exact offer. In this role, you will help motor carriers navigate permits and weight‑mile tax requirements in a call‑center environment. Day in the Life Provide customer service by explaining and applying motor carrier laws, rules and procedures. Issue motor carrier permits and temporary passes, ensuring compliance and eligibility. Review carrier information and determine required credentials for lawful operation. Assist customers with account set up, online portal access and fee payment. Accurately respond to questions regarding commercial vehicle tax services. Work is performed in a fast‑paced, high‑volume call center and requires sitting or standing for long periods of time with heavy computer and phone use. Schedule: 6‑month rotating schedule required to ensure adequate coverage during the Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. (PT) hours of operation. Minimum Qualifications Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in‑person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying laws, rules, regulations/procedures. Experience using computers to retrieve and input data. Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience. What We’d Like to See Experience with clearly explaining complex rules over the phone to a diverse audience. Skilled in accurately reviewing information, determining compliance and processing transactions. Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage frequent interruptions and remain calm and professional in difficult or escalated situations.
