Primary Purpose

Ensure that appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served. Meet time constraints. Cashier when needed.

Education

Sufficient education and/or work experience to be able to handle the responsibilities of this job.

Special Knowledge: A School Nutrition employee should have; Ability to follow directions and carry out assignments in allotted time Ability to get along with other workers Ability to maintain clean, personal work habits Ability to be well groomed at all times Ability to organize inventory and order needed supplies Ability to read food thermometers Dependable, reliable, prompt, cooperative Ability to run registers- during meal times Basic math

Experience

Preferably food service cook/ cook cashier experience

Job Goals: To assist in the production of nutritious, appetizing, excellent quality meals with which to improve and/or maintain the health of school children.

Assignment or Reassignment

School nutrition personnel are subject to assignment or reassignment by the Director of School Nutrition when the School Nutrition Director determines that the assignment or reassignment is in the best interest of the District.

Job Descriptions and Major Responsibilities

1. Prepares and serves food according to established procedures and methods.

2. Utilizes standardized recipes and procedures.

3. Demonstrates good personal appearance and cleanliness in work habits.

4. Demonstrates willingness to work where needed and to assist others when assigned jobs are completed.

5. Performs any and all clean-up chores as assigned by Manager, Asst. Manager.

6. Take HACCP temperatures and record on records.

7. Attend in-service, workshops, conferences, etc. in order to keep current with new techniques and operations.

8. Maintain friendly customer service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.

9. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.

10. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communications (i.e., email, written, and verbal)

11. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned

Policies, Reports and Law

Cook/Cook Cashiers must apply the OSHA rules of safety and TDH-HACCP sanitation regulations to insure care in food handling, safety in work and reduction of accidents.

Equipment Used

Large and small kitchen equipment to include microwave, electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, sharp cutting tools, convection and combi ovens, dishwasher and food/utility carts.

Inventory and Equipment

Organize grocery inventory and supplies.

Cooks need to check inventory and give manager a list of all you need for next seven days.

Responsible for the proper use and care of equipment.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying; stooping, bending and kneeling; limited exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
