Senior Product Engineer Position Summary

Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and launch of new automotive products and systems . Develop innovative concepts, evaluate technical feasibility, and ensure products meet customer requirements, performance targets, and quality standards. Provides technical leadership and support to customers, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Program Management, suppliers, and Product Engineering teams throughout product development and production launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new product concepts in alignment with business and customer requirements.
• Evaluate design feasibility using engineering analysis and statistical tools.
• Perform design studies and statistical analysis to ensure robust product designs.
• Develop test methods and specifications based on customer requirements.
• Create, revise, and review 3D CAD models, drawings, and design studies .
• Manage prototype builds, testing, and product validation activities.
• Provide technical leadership and support to customers, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Program Management, suppliers, and engineering teams.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions for product failures, quality concerns, and warranty issues.
• Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives, including cost reduction and manufacturability improvements.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to Product Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
• Lead competitor benchmarking activities and incorporate findings into product development.
• Support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent).
• 10+ years of automotive engineering and product design experience .
• Strong knowledge of product development and engineering design practices.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5 and 3D CAD applications.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, DOE, FMEA/DFMEA, DFM, statistical analysis, and quality tools .
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product validation.
• Ability to understand and interpret CAE analysis results .
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven leadership, mentoring, and project management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
• Adaptable mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Primarily office-based with periodic visits to manufacturing facilities.
• Exposure to manufacturing equipment and associated noise during factory visits.
• Periodic travel by air, car, or train to company locations, customers, and suppliers.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
