Postdoctoral Scientist - Heart Institute - Ibrahim Lab

Job Description Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in medical research and education. The Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars‑Sinai is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the laboratory of Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim. The candidate will support research on extracellular vesicles and small non‑coding RNA and contribute to experimental design, data analysis, publications, and grant writing. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Work independently and in close cooperation with Dr. Ibrahim and other lab staff to develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Design, perform, and interpret experiments; keep detailed experimental records and documentation. Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including surgical research in rodents, pre‑surgical preparation, anesthesia and circulation support, post‑operative recovery, and daily drug administration. Assist in grant proposal preparation and co‑author publications and presentations. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments. Maintain and monitor research accounts, prepare budgets and IACUC documentation, and order supplies and animals. Train new research fellows and maintain laboratory equipment and safety standards. Observe MD‑patient or MD‑human research subject interactions relevant to the research. Qualifications Education: Doctorate Degree in a field directly related to the research specialization is required. Experience and Skills: One‑to‑five year post‑doctoral appointment; no prior experience required—gain technical and theoretical knowledge during the appointment. Ability to work independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the Principal Investigator). Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, analysis, and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
