Precision Metrology Inspector

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Employment Type: Temp to Hire

Compensation: $22.00–$25.00 per hour + shift differential (Multiple Shifts)

Star Staffing is partnering with a leading manufacturing facility in Santa Rosa to add a detail-obsessed inspector to the team. Picture a day where you move between lines and benches, confirming every part meets visual, dimensional, and functional criteria before it heads to the next operation or out the door to a customer.

Day in the life

• Examine components using visual checks, functional tests, and precision dimensional measurements.
• Operate measuring tools (such as calipers) to verify tolerances against drawings and specifications.
• Record inspection findings and quality data with accuracy and clarity.
• Spot and report defects/nonconformances promptly.
• Apply product rejection, sample retention, and rework procedures exactly as written.
• Complete final inspections on reworked items when required.
• Keep inspection stations and work areas clean and organized.
• Join production meetings to share quality updates and collaborate with peers.
• Support the team with additional duties as assigned.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• At least 1 year in Quality Control or inspection.
• Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/engineering drawings.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with SPC and ISO 9001/ISO 13485 is a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail; able to work independently and within a team.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

Preferred background

Experience in medical device manufacturing and/or plastic injection molding.

Physical demands

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, twisting, reaching, and repetitive motions.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and more than 20 lbs. frequently.
• Occasional climbing; work within typical manufacturing environments.
