Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced CNC Beamline Operator to join a structural steel fabrication team in the Lockport, IL area. This position is responsible for operating CNC beam processing equipment to transform raw structural steel into finished components according to engineering specifications.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience operating CNC industrial equipment, the ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities:

• Set up, load, and operate CNC beam drill lines, including Advantage, Sub-X, or similar equipment.
• Monitor drilling, milling, tapping, countersinking, and scribing/layout-marking operations.
• Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and material-handling equipment to move heavy structural steel beams.
• Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
• Verify dimensions, hole locations, and finished components against project drawings and applicable industry standards.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, clearing chips and debris, and monitoring drill bit/tool wear.
• Identify and assist with troubleshooting minor -mechanical or software-related machine issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and requirements when working with heavy steel and industrial machinery.
• Maintain production quality and productivity while meeting established deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience operating CNC-driven industrial machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work safely around heavy structural steel and industrial equipment.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and/or forklifts preferred.
• Previous experience in structural steel fabrication, beam processing, or beamline operations strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a production team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work a consistent first-shift schedule.
