Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of high-acuity PICU experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 24-bed PICU at a 247-licensed-bed Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
• Patient census averages 21–23 patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio that varies by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• Patient population includes respiratory, trauma (penetrating and non-accidental), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplants (kidney and liver), complex medical, and blood disorders
• 12-hour night shifts (1845–0715), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Alternating major holiday coverage required
• Floating required as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Peds units
• No on-call requirements for travelers
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• IV pumps: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps; medication dispensing via Omnicell; monitoring via Philips

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with specialized equipment including Arctic Sun, EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temp monitoring), and Belmont Rapid Infuser
• Experience managing critical care vasoactive drip titration, sedation and analgesic drips, and invasive lines (ART lines/CVP)
• Experience with ventilator and trach management, CRRT, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, and feeding tubes (g-tube/j-tube)
• Competency in aseptic and sterile techniques, Foley insertion and management, and oral/nasal suctioning
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Comprehensive departmental support includes CNAs, a unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapy, intensivist, residents, and APPs — all available 24/7
• Centralized and bedside patient monitoring (no telemetry monitoring tech)
• Orientation consists of a facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Scheduling is managed in 6-week cycles; RTO requires manager approval
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking available on-site
• Ability to float to Pediatric CVICU may be discussed during the interview process
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
