As an integral part of the Delavan plant, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for deploying Total Prevention Maintenance (TPM) processes across more than 30 recycled glass processing plants, including process development, training, compliance auditing, and supporting Sibelco glass processing plants regionally and nationwide. The role involves operating and maintaining optical sorting machines and other industrial equipment. Responsibilities Report to the Plant Manager and lead the plant maintenance team to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment. Practice and enforce safe practices within the department. Train employees on safety and best practices. Ensure employees are trained on job‑specific assignments. Maintain pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines. Audit plant performance by completing maintenance tasks. Become a subject‑matter expert in the operation and troubleshooting of optical sorting machines from multiple manufacturers. Calculate and issue monthly fuel surcharge updates. Champion and support Lean and Continuous Improvement Initiatives. Change belts and idler pulleys on trough‑style conveyors. Develop and refine maintenance planning processes and preventive maintenance programs for mechanical and electrical equipment. Evaluate and ensure the quality of maintenance performed by internal teams and external vendors. Identify plant performance issues and provide recommendations for equipment and design changes. Lead plants in performing root cause analysis (8D process) of issues involving quality, yield, and uptime. Manage the company‑wide CMMS (SAP) to track capital assets, life expectancy, and repair and maintenance budgets and costs. Manage equipment vendor relationships, global spare parts program, and spare parts inventory. Oversee maintenance of forklifts, loaders, and other mobile equipment, including part number administration. Perform hands‑on escalated maintenance troubleshooting and repairs; conduct periodic preventive maintenance checks; handle basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs. Provide coaching, training, and accountability to plant maintenance personnel and assist in hiring new plant maintenance managers. Administer reports: add new reports, add users, maintain reports, manage user access in CMMS. Support Continuous Improvement initiatives; manage emergency repair processes; provide first‑line escalation support during equipment failures. Track equipment status, redistribute maintenance and spare‑parts assets, and expedite high‑priority repair efforts to maximize plant uptime. Demonstrate ethical decision‑making, ownership of results, and consistency between words and actions. Drive safety beyond compliance by identifying risks, leading by example, and embedding safe behaviours into daily operations. Apply structured, data‑driven problem‑solving approaches using disciplined methodologies (e.g., RCA, 5‑why). Shift the organization from reactive to planned maintenance by improving asset reliability, PM compliance, and long‑term equipment performance. Set clear expectations, hold team members accountable, and foster an environment of trust, ownership, and continuous development. Actively develop technical and leadership capabilities through coaching, feedback, and structured development plans. Prioritize effectively, manage competing demands, and ensure maintenance activities are executed efficiently. Balance cost control with operational reliability, making data‑driven decisions on repairs, capital, and resource allocation. Deliver on commitments, maintain high standards of consistency, and ensure critical tasks are completed without escalation. Lead with a plant‑first and business‑oriented mindset, understanding the impact of maintenance decisions on production, quality, and cost. Lead or contribute to projects with clear scope, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring successful implementation and measurable impact. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred). 10+ years of maintenance experience, including 3–5 years of supervisory experience. Lean Manufacturing experience, 5S, and/or Six Sigma certification (a plus). Proficiency in 480 V AC/3/60 Hz 3‑phase electrical troubleshooting. Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics. Advanced mechanical and electrical maintenance skills. ERP systems experience (SAP preferred). Strong communication and people skills. Experience with TPM maintenance programs. Salary Competitive regional salary with eligibility for annual bonus and equity.
