This Accountant, General Ledger role is vital for maintaining accurate and compliant financial records across assigned departments or colleges, directly supporting the university’s financial integrity, operational efficiency, and adherence to established policies and procedures within the University System of Georgia. The TL;DR Role: Early Career Type: Full-time Location: In-person, Kennesaw, GA Pay: $51600–$54100 yearly Mission: This role ensures the accuracy and compliance of financial statements and accounting records for assigned university departments or colleges. Tech Stack: Accounting Financial Software, Microsoft Office Applications, PeopleSoft Financials (preferred), Banner (preferred) What You’ll Actually Do Record Management: Maintain accurate accounting records for assigned university departments or colleges, ensuring financial security through adherence to internal controls and protocol. Financial Oversight: Examine financial statements, records, and other financial reports to confirm accuracy and ensure compliance with current KSU, Board of Regents, and State of Georgia accounting policies and procedures. Transaction Processing & Reporting: Perform data entry, review and reconcile financial transactions for assigned areas, and generate scheduled or ad hoc reports to monitor agency or general ledger accounts. Stakeholder Support: Provide comprehensive financial support for assigned areas, including answering accounting procedure questions by researching policy, assisting campus partners with inquiries, and proactively offering tutorials or trainings. Process Improvement: Review submitted financial documents for completeness and correctness, track and monitor them, and identify resolutions to accounting issues while recommending best practices for business efficiencies. The Must-Haves Background: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Experience: One year of related work experience, with a preference for previous experience reviewing and reconciling financial statements. Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of KSU, Board of Regents, and State of Georgia Accounting Policies and Procedures; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and accounting processes such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable; excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills; strong organizational ability with attention to detail and the capacity to prioritize workload and meet deadlines. Bonus: An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education related to accounting, finance, business, or another related field; familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials and Banner. #J-18808-Ljbffr
