About the Position

Job Title: Nursing - RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Center Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8-hour Evening Shift Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Pre-op and Phase II recovery experience IV starts proficiency Assistance with nerve blocks Preferred background in GI pre/post operations Description: Facility is a Level IV Trauma Center with a Level III NICU. It has a total of 277 hospital beds and a general information capacity of 36. Position requires handling a variety of surgical patients including orthopedic, urology, hysterectomy, imaging, and tubal ligation cases. Patient ratios are 1:2-3 for pre-op and 1:4 for Phase II recovery. Support on the unit includes a 1:18 staff ratio, with a CNA available in each area. The charge nurse takes an assignment and there is a resource nurse available. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7, as well as hospitalists. Technology in use includes an EMR system and various medication dispensing and monitoring equipment. Floating may occur to GI for pre/post only, but no intraprocedural work. Weekends will not require rotation, and there are no on-call responsibilities. The unit observes holiday closures on major holidays but operates on the eve of holidays and the day after. Time off approvals will be processed through management. Shift start times vary, and the schedule is planned in 6-week increments.
