Mobile Crisis Intervention Service ClinicianThe Mobile Crisis Intervention Service (MCIS) program Clinician is a talented clinical social worker or psychotherapist with a passion for and commitment to working with children age 3-18 and their parents and/or caregivers. This clinician demonstrates an understanding of child development and has the expertise and flexibility to provide therapeutic interventions, based on the needs of each child and family. An unlicensed clinician ("Clinician I") works under the supervision of a licensed clinician; a licensed clinician ("Clinician II") provides clinical services with a greater degree of independent functioning and may supervise trainees, but continues to receive the benefit of clinical supervision to promote continued professional development, support and quality clinical services. A licensed clinician with the requisite experience ("Clinician III") also supervises other clinicians.Specific responsibilities of the position include:Provide immediate phone screening and prompt mobile response, consistent with time-frame guidelines of the state's MCIS model and urgency of each situationProvide crisis assessment and short term intervention for children, adolescents and their families, focused on safety planning and crisis stabilizationProvide assessment, and treatment services to victims and witnesses of crime and other potentially traumatic eventsObtain immediate case consultation and supervision, when needed for support, enhanced decision making and safety in high risk situationsPrioritize personal safety through compliance with safety policies and proceduresCoordinate with CGC's Director of Intake Unit and Program Directors to promote successful transfers between MCIS and other programsConduct comprehensive, child and family assessments including diagnosis, clinical formulation, and safety plansProvide psychotherapeutic services utilizing psycho-dynamically oriented, trauma focused, cognitive behavioral, and play therapy interventions, as well as family and group therapy modalitiesProvide guidance to parents / caregivers utilizing a family engagement frameworkMaintain positive collaborative relationships with key community partners i.e. 211, hospital emergency departments and in-patient units; other higher level of care programs; police, schools, DCF, victim assistance programs, etc.Provide community crisis response services to groups of children and families impacted by exposure to potentially traumatic eventsConduct community education programs to increase awareness of MCIS services in the communityProvide clinical supervision to and conduct performance evaluations of trainees (Clinician II) or trainees and staff (Clinician III), promoting excellence, professional development and job satisfactionActively participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning team meetings, supervision and other staff development activitiesMaintain positive collaborative relationships with referral sources and key community providerUtilize the agency's electronic health record (EHR) system to ensure proper and timely completion of all required clinical documentation, program statistics, and outcome dataOther related activities as neededRequired Skills and Education:A Masters degree in clinical social work or community counseling, such as MSW or MFT, or other license track mental health professionLicense in a mental health profession in Connecticut, or eligible to immediately become licensed (Clinician II and III)For Clinician II and III, the ability to model and promote high quality clinical practice, caring and appropriate professional boundaries in clinical work, compliance with administrative responsibilities, and the development of knowledge and excellenceMinimum one year experience providing clinical assessments and psychotherapy with children, adolescents and families (Clinician I), minimum two years post degree experience (Clinician II), minimum three years post degree experienced (Clinician III)Minimum one year experience providing supervision required (Clinician III)Able to demonstrate an understanding of core theoretical concepts including child development, cognitive-behavioral, attachment, and systems approaches, resilience, and trauma-informed diagnosis and treatmentAble to demonstrate solid grounding and experience in at least one relevant orientation to treatment, such as psychodynamic, CBT, TF-CBT, family systems and play therapyVerbal and written fluency in English required; bi-lingual fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole or another language widely spoken in our community, highly desiredExperience working with patients from culturally diverse backgrounds, and the ability to demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivityComputer skills required; familiarity with EHR systems a plusPhysical Requirements/Work Environment:Hours will vary; our schedules range Monday-Friday from 7am-7pm and Saturdays.Minimal physical effort.
