Assistant District Attorney (NS) Job Classification: 60007115 | Grade: 30013281 | District: Prosecutorial District 7 (Bertie, Halifax, Hertford, Northampton). Salary Range: $54,369.00 - $101,299.00. Responsibilities Screen incoming cases using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of case facts. Research and identify precedent in case law and utilize electronic legal research tools. Prepare cases for trial and write and file appropriate motions. Organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, follow up on assignments, and meet with victims of crime. Handle caseload that may include district and superior court cases. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of federal, state, common, and constitutional law; judicial procedures and rules of evidence; NC General Statutes; legal research methods and tools. Skill in interpreting and applying complex criminal laws; using logic to assess case facts; researching precedent; evaluating electronic research systems; negotiating plea agreements; organizing work and meeting deadlines. Ability to analyze facts, conduct legal research, plan litigation strategy, prepare and conduct witness examinations, deliver opening and closing statements, argue persuasively, maintain relationships with law enforcement and attorneys, solve problems, produce legal documents, and communicate effectively. Qualifications Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school. Active license to practice law in North Carolina. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
