Senior Accountant / Auditor New Rockville, MD

ASSYST is seeking a professional Accountant/Auditor to support the client with accounting and auditing activities. The role requires a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles for governmental accounting, including GASB and/or FASB standards and statements. The candidate should have experience with Oracle ERP accounting systems, Excel, complex reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and integrated accounting systems. Prepare analyses of financial reports and provide recommendations based on the findings. Perform detailed analysis of assigned funds and sub-funds. Perform complex reconciliations of General Ledger accounts within Oracle and across multiple systems. Prepare supporting work papers for adjusting journal entries. Support financial statement preparation and related accounting activities. Apply governmental accounting principles, GASB and/or FASB standards, and statements in assigned work. Work effectively with integrated accounting systems and meet established deadlines. Utilize Oracle ERP, Excel, and other current technologies to perform accounting and auditing activities. Required Skills Previous professional experience working as an Accountant or Auditor. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for governmental accounting. Thorough understanding of GASB and/or FASB standards and statements. Proficiency with Oracle ERP accounting systems. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience performing complex reconciliations involving transactions across multiple systems. Experience with integrated accounting systems. Experience with financial statement preparation. Ability to analyze financial information and prepare supporting documentation. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Knowledge of MUNIS, Crystal Reports, and Business Intelligence (BI) tools is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required.
