Position Summary:
Responsible for performing inspections and repairs on water, steam, gas, and drainage systems in the hospital. Responsibilities:
- Repairs, tests, inspects, and installs plumbing and steam equipment in accordance with current codes and safety regulations
- Performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical, or vehicle servicing
- Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
- Graduate of an accredited training school in plumbing required
- Must be able to read blue prints, equipment schematics and wiring diagrams
- Certification or licensure in plumbing required within 90 days of hire
- Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
- Work in confined spaces for short periods of time
- Exposure to electrical/ mechanical harm, i.e faulty equipment
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, acids, cleaning solution, disinfectants, soaps, etc.
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
- Must be able to climb stairs or ladders
- Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
