Position Summary:


Responsible for performing inspections and repairs on water, steam, gas, and drainage systems in the hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Repairs, tests, inspects, and installs plumbing and steam equipment in accordance with current codes and safety regulations
  • Performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical, or vehicle servicing
  • Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications :
  • Graduate of an accredited training school in plumbing required
  • Must be able to read blue prints, equipment schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Certification or licensure in plumbing required within 90 days of hire
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
  • Typical equipment used in a clinical job
  • Work in confined spaces for short periods of time
  • Exposure to electrical/ mechanical harm, i.e faulty equipment
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, acids, cleaning solution, disinfectants, soaps, etc.
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
  • Must be able to climb stairs or ladders
  • Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
