Senior Project Administrator

Hours: Full-Time – 35 Hours Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101 Only candidates who are permanent in the Construction Project Manager title or reachable on the Open-Competitive Exam #3042 or #5058 may apply. Position Overview The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Project Administrator to join the Program Management Unit – Programs / South Queens. The successful candidate will report to a Deputy Director and will monitor, track progress, identify and follow up on critical issues throughout the project scope development, design, and construction phase to ensure projects are on or ahead of the specified schedule. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate project data in the agency’s database, coordinating with partner agencies on permits, railroad facilities, property acquisition, funding, and mapping, and participating in meetings related to scope development, design, procurement, and construction. Responsibilities Monitor project progress and identify critical issues from scope development through construction. Maintain accurate project information in the agency’s database throughout the project life cycle. Coordinate with internal and external agencies on permitting, railroad facilities, property acquisition, project funding, and mapping. Participate in meetings regarding scope development, design, pre‑award, and pre‑construction. Prepare and manage project documentation, including correspondence during pre‑design, design, and construction phases. Notify community boards and elected officials of project status and interact with client agencies. Minimum Qualifications A four‑year high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years of full‑time experience managing and/or inspecting construction projects with a total cost of at least $300,000 each year; or One year of the experience above and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field; or One year of the experience above and a valid license as a professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect; or A four‑year high school diploma (or equivalent) with a combination of at least two years of the experience above and the secondary education described in paragraph (2), totaling five years of education and experience. Preferred Skills Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. Project management knowledge related to infrastructure work (e.g., roadway, sewer, and/or water main). Detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple multi‑trade projects on schedule. Knowledge of specifications, methods, operations, design, and construction of the City’s infrastructure system and current engineering practices. Proficient in Primavera P6 and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred). Valid driver’s license (optional but highly recommended). Other Requirements Driver License Requirement: At the time of appointment you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, licence suspension, or an accident record, you may be disqualified. Assignment Level Requirements: Level II: One additional year of satisfactory full‑time experience in Assignment Level I or the experience described above. Level III: Two additional years of satisfactory full‑time experience in Assignment Levels I and II or the experience described above. Benefits & Other Information Compensation: $83,743.00 – $99,528.00 Public Service Loan Forgiveness: As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
