Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Endoscopy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience with procedural sedation Description: The endoscopy department is among the busiest in the region. Procedures performed include EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, bronchoscopy, EUS, and PEG. Registered Nurses cover all three phases of care. Responsibilities include recovering patients from monitored anesthesia care sedation and procedural sedation. Intubated patients are transferred to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Nurses are required to perform bedside procedures in emergency and intensive care when necessary. In monitored anesthesia care cases, the nurse circulates, while for procedural sedation, there is a designated circulator and sedator. Technicians assist physicians with all procedures except bronchoscopy. They are responsible for managing equipment, stocking rooms, and performing all scope care. Experience with OER Pro elite and lite machines and ERCP is essential for technicians. A charge nurse is present on each shift from Monday to Friday. Registered Nurses and Technicians must be ready to take on call duties. Weekend call for Registered Nurses is typically one day from 7 AM to 7 AM the following day. Technicians share weekend call duties from 7 AM Saturday to 6 AM Monday. Call response time is expected to be within 30 minutes. There is no floating outside of the Endoscopy/GI lab, but traveling between two nearby campuses may be required. Holiday call is rotated among staff, with an expectation to cover one major holiday and one minor holiday per year.
