Central Sterile Tech Evenings - LOH

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital at NYU Langone Health is a leading orthopedic and rheumatologic specialty hospital dedicated to the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases. Position Summary We are seeking a Central Sterile Tech (Evenings – LOH). In this role, the successful candidate will ensure that all instruments and emergency supplies meet established quality and quantity standards, deliver instruments to the surgical suites on time, decontaminate and disinfect equipment, assemble and transport mobile patient equipment, and perform instrument inventory checks. The role requires interaction with both internal and external customers and participation in continuous quality improvement processes. Job Responsibilities Perform duties as assigned. Maintain service standards and apply them to daily tasks. Execute decontamination, disinfection, and cleaning procedures. Prepare, assemble, inspect, and package major surgical instruments. Manage sterilization processes, documentation, and delivery of sterile packages. Enter, modify, and retrieve information in the instrument tracking system. Apply infection control guidelines during transfer, storage, and transport of sterile packages. Perform quality assurance processes and random sampling of products according to protocol. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) as a Certified or Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA) (options: CRCST, CER, or CFER). Provisional certification is acceptable provided that 400 hours of hands‑on training are completed prior to expiration. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations. Basic computer skills. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Required Licenses Sterile Processing & Distribution – CBSPD certification and Central Sterile Technician (HSPA) license. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of healthcare products, patient care equipment, surgical instruments, medical terminology, and basic use. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, and hospital needs. The range does not include bonuses, incentives, or other compensation.
