Adjunct Medical Billing & Coding /Business Instructor

Position Summary Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part-time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. Individuals will be hired as needed. Submitted applications will remain on file for 36 months. Terms of Employment Employed on an "As Needed" basis; local salary schedule in accordance with documented academic credentials and/or educational experiences; not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. All exceptions must be approved by the Vice President for Instruction. Salary: Local Salary Schedule (based on credentials and area of assignment) Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) – MS/MA $1,683 per 3-credit course Academic Adjuncts (3 hrs.) – PhD./Ed.D. $1,836 per 3-credit course Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction Adhere to all learning management system (Blackboard) requirements, posting syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments, and test dates. Teach from current job‑relevant course syllabi and training plan. Supplement lectures and demonstrations with multimedia materials. Demonstrate safe use of equipment and include safety, health, and fire prevention in instruction. Maintain a learning‑conducive environment and discipline students in class, lab, and shop. Develop laboratory projects that relate theory to practical application. Distribute current syllabus at term start, detailing objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, rules, regulations, required books, supplies, and equipment. Administer written and performance examinations, record student progress, and submit grades each term by the due date. Implement a system of recording progress (e.g., progress charts, Blackboard). Demand good work habits and respond to student requests promptly (within 24–48 hours). Follow all regulations regarding online instruction and applicable institutional policies. Recordkeeping Maintain permanent roll and accurate attendance of students. Submit attendance reports on time. Follow state and institutional grading system, and submit grades each term by the due date. Submit forms to the registrar when changes occur in students' status. Assist students in submitting required graduation documents. Enforcement of College Policies Participate in departmental orientation and communicate announcements as directed. Follow institutional, system policies, procedures, and guidelines. Adhere to FERPA regulations and report violations. Adhere to ADA accommodation requirements when presented with official documentation. Qualifications Hold a minimum of a Master’s degree, including 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in the teaching discipline (Academic Division: Language, Health & Physical Education/Science, Math, Social Science, Business). Medical Coding and Billing: Master’s degree in Business or Business Education and certification in Medical Billing and Coding.
