Responsibilities

• Develop new concepts and products aligned with business objectives.
• Evaluate concept feasibility using advanced analytical tools.
• Verify critical interfaces through design studies and statistical analysis to ensure design robustness.
• Develop test methods and specifications based on customer requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer associates.
• Manage prototype builds, testing, and validation for assigned products.
• Provide technical leadership to customers and manufacturing, Sales, Quality Assurance, Program Management, and other groups.
• Create, revise, and check 3D models, drawings, and design studies.
• Identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions for product test failures, quality concerns, and warranty returns.
• Lead value analysis/value engineering cost-reduction and design-for-manufacturing activities with customers, vendors, and Hi-Lex personnel.
• Promote an associate-relations environment consistent with long-term management objectives.
• Provide leadership, training, and technical support to product engineers, designers, and technicians.
• Lead competitor benchmarking activities.
• Support 5S activities and perform other duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Four-year degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or an equivalent field.
• Ten or more years of experience in automotive engineering and design.
• Automotive experience is a must
• Thorough knowledge of engineering practices, including GD&T, DOE, FMEA, DFM, CAD applications, and statistical analysis.
• Experience with product development and design.
• CAD skills using CATIA V5.
• Knowledge of CAE tools and the ability to interpret results.
• Knowledge of quality tools and DFMEA.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
